Description
In the classic tale of The Ugly Duckling, we discover what it means to find true belonging – within and without – in the face of tremendous pressure to be other than who you truly are.
In this lesson bundle you will explore what it means to truly belong to yourself. You will learn how the effects of sociocultural and familial pressures to conform to what Carl Jung called the “collective consciousness” or what Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés calls the “overculture.” You will also encounter the great mother of all archetypes: the mother. I will guide you gently along through a gentle discovery of your own relationship to the mother archetype, touching on the concept of the mother wound, with powerful tools for cultivating the strong mother archetype within you.
This lesson bundle includes:
- Two one-ish hour videos with the storytelling of The Ugly Duckling from chapter six of Women Who Run With the Wolves with an explanation of the archetypes at work in the tale and how they show up in your life in the real world.
- Wildish Worksheet for mapping the archetypes and identifying where you are in the tale in real time or how it has played out in your past.
- PDF of my completed worksheet with examples from my own life.
- Reflection questions and embodiment homework for furthering your self-understanding and deepening your connection to Self.
“THE WILD NATURE INSTINCTIVELY HOLDS ON AND HOLDS OUT, SOMETIMES WITH STYLE, OTHER TIMES WITH LITTLE GRACE, BUT HOLDS ON NEVERTHELESS. AND THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT. FOR THE WILDISH WOMAN, DURATION IS ONE OF HER GREATEST STRENGTHS.”
CLARISSA PINKOLA ESTÉS, PH.D.
